Off-campus Library Services

The majority of our resources and services are available to you online 24/7. You can access these from the dropdown on the left and from the “Library” link in your Moodle classroom under “HC Online Resources.”

Use your NetID (hc . . .) to log into our databases of journal articles, encyclopedias and other online reference materials.  You also use your NetID to log into Moodle, where you will find our 90-minute Library Research Tutorial.  Check the Tutorials page for more information.

Use your student id (77 . . .) to log into the catalog. In the catalog, you can renew materials you have checked out, place holds on materials from affiliate libraries (UM-Missoula, UM-Western and Montana Tech), and access our collection of 300,000+ ebooks to read online or download.  Books and other materials have a four week checkout period with two renewals, and can be mailed to your home upon request.

The items listed in “Research Help” on the dropdown menu above will lead you to resources that will help you with your studies and research assignments for your classes.

Online forms are available for Book a Librarian, Suggest a Purchase and Interlibrary Loan.

Book a Librarian is for one-on-one research help in the library only, but we are happy to provide reference and research help by email, chat or telephone during open hours.  Leave an email message at any time and we will respond by the next business day, Monday through Friday.
