- Official high school transcripts from an accredited high school, with graduation date posted, or a GED transcript. Home-schooled or non-accredited high school graduates may meet Ability to Benefit requirements.
- Official college transcripts, if applicable.
- COMPASS Assessment scores
Applications can be obtained by calling Admissions and New Student Services at 406-444-6826. The Compass Assessment is a test to assist with placement into college level coursework. You will need to take the complete Compass test, including math and English (which includes writing and reading components), if you plan to enter any program at UM-Helena and do not have transfer credits in these areas.
The test helps college advisors place you into an appropriate math, English, and possibly reading course. The intent is to place you into courses that will challenge, but not frustrate you. These computerized tests are taken in the Advising, Learning & Career Center (ALCC) and are not timed.
The cost of the complete test is $15 ($10 for English, $5 for Math), payable to UM-Helena in the Cashier’s office. You must bring your receipt with you to be able to take the test.
Call 444-6826 or 444-2766 to schedule the test.
