Information for Faculty
- Although the tutors in the Learning Center do their best to assist students, the ultimate guidance in methodology comes from you, our faculty. We encourage you to drop by the Learning Center, become acquainted with our resources, and give us guidance on how to best serve our students. If you ever need to give us information about one of your classes, please send it to the direction of the Director and she will distribute it to tutors. Also, if you require specific software for your program, please make sure the Learning Center has that software installed on several computers for students to use.
-
- The Learning Center has a testing room that is used for testing students with disabilities. You should only request to use this space for a student if that student has given you verification of his documented disability. In that event, the student should give you advance notice (at least 24 hours) of when the test is to be administered, and you then send a copy of the test to the Director of the Learning Center with administration instructions. If your student does not have a documented disability and needs to take a test, you will need to make arrangements with that student.
Available Workshops for Faculty
The Learning Center is pleased to offer a variety of workshops to faculty for instruction during your class time. These workshops are designed to be offered independently and last about 45 minutes to an hour. Either the Director of the Learning Center or a qualified tutor will lead the workshop.
Topics that we can offer your class include Study Skills, Time Management, Test Anxiety, and Math Anxiety. It is also possible that we could design a specific workshop with advance notice. Please call the Director of the Learning Center to request a workshop as far ahead as possible. We will do our best to be able to offer a workshop for the class period that you need covered.
